Foodie Finds: True North Snacks
What do days at the beach, road trips and summer travels all have in common? Snacks, of course. Right?
It's very rare that we feature most of the products we are provided with as samples to taste but we are totally enamored with the snacks sent to us by True North. We've been raving about them for days now.
Vegan, gluten-free, non-GMO and with zero trans fat, they also taste incredibly good. Our favorite is the cashew crunch. They come in waterproof bags perfect for throwing in your picnic hamper or beach bag. We promise you that you will not be disappointed. They can be found pretty much anywhere and when our supply runs out we will definitely be buying more!

Gluten-Free at Turner Fisheries
This is our second posting in a week about dining gluten-free in Boston, which just goes to show one how accessible gluten-free is becoming. For this post we were invited to Turner Fisheries in the Westin Copley. We began our dinner with huge platters of fresh seafood including shrimp, lobsters and oysters.
Our first course included four separate tastes. Turner's award-winning Chowder was included here. Made with rice flour, which has been part of their recipe since the beginning, we wondered if this was actually the secret reason they have won so many awards. Next, we tucked into the Seared Diver Scallop served with a Brandy Black Mission Fig Reduction. Very nice, indeed.
This visually stunning Beet Carpaccio included Rainbow Swiss Chard, a Cider Glaze and Pistachio Dust. As I've said before, I will almost always order the beet salad when it's on the menu as it's just one of those dishes I rarely make at home. This one did not disappoint.
Last was the Grilled Oyster with Maitake Mushroom Riesling Cream. I could have eaten a few more of these.
Our Second Course included Rockport Merluza Filet, Grilled Salmon and, yes, Lobster Thermidor! The thermidor was covered with a Cured Tomato Hollaindaise and Gruyere. It was one of my favorite tastes and a very popular item on the menu.
The Grilled Salmon included Roasted Garlic Baby Potatoes and Wild Mushrooms. Again, very nice.
The Merluza Filet (hake) was accompanied by Pernod, Crispy Bacon and Creamed Brussels Sprouts, a great combination.
Dessert was this Mocha Creme Brulee with a perfectly crispy top and creamy filling. I liked the different mocha taste.
Although I do not personally suffer from food allergies it is always a welcome to see that so much is available for gluten-free diners and the flavor and inventiveness of these dishes are such that any diner would enjoy them. I would recommend any of these dishes!
