The Boston Shaker

It's an aspiring mixologists's dream, the kind of place for people who truly enjoy the entire process of preparing a classic cocktail. The Boston Shaker is a shiny, bright new addition to Davis Square and features all the cocktail tools and ingredients you'll need to properly prepare a memorable drink.

We stopped by recently to say hello to Adam Lantheaume, the owner, and browse the many interesting finds.

The spacious wooden shelves hold precisely aligned bottles of elixirs (with a personal flashback to my long-ago days working at Kiehl's) and flavors from places with names like Urban Moonshine, Fee Bros. and The Book Of Shrub.

For people who like to have really nice things as part of their home bar set-up this is the place for you. Unique, elegant and classic tools of the trade are all available.

Hard-to-find items like specialized bitters and a nice selection of mixology books will help you define your style but don't forget that Adam himself is probably the closest thing you'll get to your own, personal cocktail consultant.

The Boston Shaker is open Tuesday through Saturday 12:00 Noon to 7:00 PM.

In other news, a new restaurant is coming to Harvard Square! The Russell House is being operated by The Grafton Group (owners of Grafton Street, Temple Bar and Redline, among others) and will feature classic American cuisine. Our sources tell us (and they are almost always right) that they will occupy the space formerly housing Z Squared and plan to be open by early Spring. Remember, you read it here first.
