Cooking For A Cause 2019

Chef Greg Reeves of Vialé, Culinary Chair, and Michael J. Delia, President and CEO of East End House.

Cooking For A Cause to benefit East End House in Cambridge was held last week and we consider this elegant event the unofficial kickoff for the Spring social season.  Cantabrigians were there in full for to support this fine organization and many of the most notable Chefs in the Cities of Cambridge and Boston prepared some great, creative dishes.

John DaSilva of Chickadee, Will Gilson of Puritan And Company, Tom Berry of Yvonne's, Tony Maws of Craigie On Main, and Will Isaza of Blossom Bar (Beverage Chair) were all on hand to enjoy the night.  Great job by all and great food.  Enjoy these party pics!

Cooking For A Cause 2018 For East End House

It was lots of great food and drink, new friends, live music and that sweeping view recently when we attended Cooking For A Cause 2018 to benefit East End House in Cambridge.

We tasted sumptuous plates and met all kinds of new people while atop the Royal Sonesta, at one of our favorite annual events that sort of kicks off the Spring social season for us.  Great job by everyone!

Cooking For A Cause 2017

It's the Spring season, although one may not recognize it from the cold, rainy weather, and with it comes new changes across the landscape and that includes the food landscape.  Doors will be thrown open, patio furniture set out and menus changed.  Within just a few weeks thousands of tourists and travelers will flock to Greater Boston for vacation and holidays. And we'll all see many white tents set up on those rolling green lawns for all those warmer weather events and parties.  Yes, the social season has begun and our calendar is filling up quickly, almost all the way out until July.

So we kicked off the Spring social agenda with one of our favorite events and organizations: Cooking For A Cause to benefit East End House in Cambridge.  We started with a generous pour of Working Class Hero from Cambridge Brewing Company.  Spring and Summer are no better time to enjoy a good craft brew and we really enjoyed their Working Class Hero, an American Saison in the farmhouse ale style.  With hints of lemon and orange it's a refreshing sip and would be great on a hot day.  Nice find!

I had along as my guest a new friend visiting from Portugal, Joao Santos, fashion blogger at The Glam Life Diary and a fellow craft beer aficionado.

We loved the sushi from Fuji At Kendall.  Several varieties were provided for tasting.  Other favorite tastes included the Green Garbanzo Hummus from Tony Maws at Craigie On Main, delicious sips from Roxy's A4cade, a stellar Short Rib And Cornbread from Andy Husbands at The Smoke Shop and a perfect pasta dish (with an incredible sauce) from Dante DeMagistris of Dante.

The Royal Sonesta in Cambridge provided the stunning backdrop of the Boston skyline, albeit damp, as hundreds of guests enjoyed the many plates of food, drinks and dessert before an auction and dancing to live music rounded out the night.

The evening raised $400,000 for East End House which does so much great work for children, teens and families in Cambridge. Plaudits to them and their team for their ongoing success.  We were glad to be a small part of it.

Cooking For A Cause 2016

Mixologist Will Thompson (who also served as Beverage Chair for the event) and our great friend Chef Juan Pedrosa, both of Yvonne's, were there when hundreds of people ascended the stairs at the Royal Sonesta Hotel  to attend Cooking For A Cause last night to benefit East End House.  Over 30 restaurants and bars participated offering up samples of some very creative food and drink.

One of our favorite tastes of the night were these Halva Brownies provided by Tatte Bakery. They were rich and creamy without being overly sweet.  Another big hit was the Pressed Medianoche Sliders (not pictured) served by Chef Nick Deutmeyer of Post 390.

Will Isaza of Tapestry Boston mixed up one of the most interesting drinks of the event: Prickly Privateer Daquiri.  Privateer Silver, pickled green strawberry, urfa pepper and citrus were blended to provide a sip that not only packed a punch but also a surprising bit of heat.

Guests sampled plates, sipped cocktails and mingled while learning more about the fantastic work that East End House does for Cambridge families and youth in need.

Craigie On Main was the first to run out of food and no wonder with the long lines gathered at their serving table.

Even the weather cooperated as the crowd enjoyed a stunning sunset over the Charles River, Esplanade and Boston skyline. Great job everybody!  We were proud to be invited again this year to promote and support the event.

Cooking For A Cause 2013

We were off to the M. I. T. Media Lab recently where we took the glass elevators up to one of our favorite annual events COOKING FOR A CAUSE to benefit East End House.  It was great to finally see this event moved to a Cambridge venue, home of East End House and where most of the participating restaurants are located.

There was plenty of good food and drink and the opportunity to chat with well-known local Chefs.  We also had updates on the many services that East End House offers Cambridge families and young people in need.  Another great year!  Thank you Michael Delia.
