Time To Rate The Doughnuts

This week's doughnut (or donut) excursion was to Demet's in Medford, a very highly rated favorite amongst the local doughnut aficionados. We sampled two varieties, both batter doughnuts as opposed to raised. I guess we'll have to visit again to rate those. The doughnuts here seem just a bit smaller in size than other shops. We found them to be surprisingly light. It just may be the slightly smaller size was the reason we did not get that heavy feeling after devouring them.

Of course, all local doughnuts should be made on the premises. Perhaps this is a reminder that the big chain shops (you know the one) do not make theirs at the stores. They have regional, commercial bakeries and then truck them out to their locations.

The retro leather booth seating and strip mall-esque location make it a perfect cop hangout. Demet's also makes fresh bagels and muffins and serves breakfast daily starting at 5:00 AM.

Demet's is famous for their blueberry cake glazed doughnuts and, believe me, they did not disappoint. Excellent blueberry flavor. We would rate these as very good. Well worth the trip.

The chocolate glazed doughnuts are perfectly moist with a rich chocolate taste and just the right amount of glazing.
