Karma Pizza Company In Newport

Another one of our favorite stops on the Newport Foodies Stroll was Karma Pizza Company on Thames.  Formerly Crazy Doughs, the place has been totally revamped and the menu now features some great thin crust offerings.  What was funny was that we had actually visited the place a few days earlier for a quick, delicious slice of the Balsamic And Ricotta which we highly recommend.  It's also a great late night stop when one has the munchies after a long day on the boat or at the beach.  They are open until 2:00 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

Owner Paul Duffy (a Charlestown native) was there to greet us and could not have been more thrilled that I happened to be sporting my Karma Club hoodie that I picked up in Galway.

Frank Pepe Pizzeria Burlington

For lovers of Frank Pepe Pizzeria who can't make the trek to Chestnut Hill too often there is some good news:  a Burlington Mall outpost of the iconic pizzeria opens today.

We had an invite to attend a preview over the weekend and can report that, yes, it is the same excellent quality product as any other location.  And it IS excellent.  We went with a split of sausage and spinach on one side and meatball and fresh garlic on the other.  Perfect, as usual.

Frank Pepe's Pizza

We were lucky enough to be invited to Frank Pepe's Pizzeria in Chestnut Hill a few days before it opened for a media preview.  Lucky for us because the lines have been out the door with a typical one hour wait to get in ever since.  Is it worth it?  Absolutely!  In fact, I have not seen one review or post that says it is anything less than great.

Maybe it's that coal-fired oven built brick by brick to exact specifications for a virtual duplicate of the original in Connecticut.  Just to be certain, however, we went on our own to visit their outpost at Mohegan Sun on our recent weekend there.  Yes, it was just as good.  Perfect crust and pizzas loaded with fresh ingredients.  So far we have tried the classic White Clam Pizza (we added bacon to ours) which has made them famous.  Excellent. Then we tried the Spinach, Mushroom and Gorgonzola (pictured) which was every bit as good.  Honestly, no matter what you get we don't think that you could go wrong.

Salvatore's Pizza Deal

Are you all moved in yet? Unpacked? If so, then it's time to get to know your local pizza and pizza deals.  Just in time for the opening of the school year, Salvatore's has unveiled a new pizza offer that is ideal for students and night owls.  So, we headed over to their waterfront location recently and joined lots of other food bloggers and friends to help them celebrate with a pajama party and a preview.   Well, OK the closest thing we saw to pajamas were slippers.  Here's the deal: after 10PM a 6 inch pizza is only $3.00!!! Yes, and the pizza is great, too.  I tasted all of them and my favorite was the spinach and gorgonzola.  We also sampled 2 outrageous dessert pizzas featuring a nutella version and one with vodka-soaked cherries.  Incredible.   Enjoy!
