Piperi For Lunch
We stopped in at Piperi Mediterranean Grill recently, a new lunch spot just across from Government Center. They feature two specialties a Gozi Flatbread Sandwich or a Mezze Plate. You choose the fillings.
The place is bright and airy with an assembly line style service that moves quickly. You can choose chicken or steak for your meats or a nice falafel then load it with extras.
Although the Gozi bread looked and tasted great we opted for the Mezze Plate.
Chicken, rice, beans, hummus and feta were served up on a nice plate heaped with flavor. The chicken was quite good. Although this was a press preview there were lots of people walking in trying to place an order, always a good sign!

New Lunch Menu At Del Frisco's
If you haven't been over to the Waterfront area to enjoy a leisurely lunch yet this summer, don't let the time run out. Liberty Wharf has got to be one of the hottest spots in town and never more so than in the warm weather. We met up with a bunch of blogger friends and writers recently one late afternoon to sample the new lunch menu at Del Frisco's. We began on the porch with most of us sipping their signature cocktail: the VIP. It's a pineapple vodka two week infusion to get one of these. I enjoyed mine on the rocks before we stepped inside for dinner. (As a note, if you dine on the porch during a concert at the Bank Of America Pavilion next door, you'll get music, too.)
We began with this light but flavorful Seared Ahi Tuna Salad: Shaved Napa Cabbage, Arugula, Mango, Chilled Noodles, Toasted Almonds, Tomato, Avocado with Ginger-Sesame Dressing. Nice, light summer salad.
Executive Chef Derek Barragan stopped by to talk about the menu, ingredients and take any questions we might have about preparation.
Next up was this very nice dish of Spaghettini: Garlic Shrimp, Plum Tomato, Basil and Lemon Zest with just the perfect amount of pasta. Again, a nice seasonal plate.
By now most of us were into a glass of prosecco as we chatted about our latest restaurant visits, food finds and how to stay thin while doing this all the time.
Our third course was the Steakhouse Salad: Broiled Prime Strip Steak, Deviled Egg, Baby Mixed Greens, Watercress, Avocado, Cherry Tomato, Bacon, Parmesan, Blue Cheese and Horseradish Lemon Dressing. This was my favorite. All that flavor and I loved the addition of the deviled egg.
Last up was this Orcchiette served with Grilled Chicken Breast, Baby Spinach and Roasted Garlic-Parmesan Cream. I loved the sauce on this plate.
It has only been a week since we visited and I can't wait to get back to enjoy another plate of that Steakhouse Salad and another glass of cool prosecco and a bright afternoon on the porch.
