Farewell Improper Bostonian
This past week it seemed as though everyone in Boston was lamenting the demise of Improper Bostonian as if it were a close friend who died too young. Indeed, we were not only an aficionado of the events coverage but also often featured in said columns. It was always a great resource for new and fun things to do in an around the city.
This prompted us to look back over some of our favorite party pics and celebrity sightings over the years. So, if there is any way in which we can pick up the slack and help fill the void we will be providing even more of all those happy, shiny faces on our blog. Let the fashion and food events continue!

Wine And Rosecliff 2018
With Nancy Bean (R) of Wise Up Events and friend.
We kicked off the Newport Mansions Food And Wine Festival with a big party at Rosecliff mansion for Wine And Rosecliff. The festive gala is a bit dressier than the others and although the wine was flowing and the food being served all night it was definitely more of a party atmosphere.
We caught up with great friend Nancy Matheson-Burns of Dole And Bailey. She has just been named to the Massachusetts Restaurant Association Hall Of Fame for her service to the local restaurant and food scene. One of only three women to ever been named to the Hall Of Fame we cannot think of a more worthy recipient.
Nancy Bean (l) and Chef Lydia Shire.
There was live music and dancing in the ballroom, tables set for a more relaxed sipping and snacking alternative and plenty of colorful characters to liven up the night.
All in all, it was a terrific evening set against the glamor of Bellevue Avenue, the Cliff Walk and, of course, the mansions.

Bar Boulud, Boston
It was terrines, aspics, pates and all of that glorious charcuterie that made the press opening for Bar Boulud at Mandarin Oriental Boston THE party of the week to attend. Throw in dozens of media personalities and some of Boston's top Chefs, including Barbara Lynch, Chris Coombs, Ken Oringer and Lydia Shire to make it an electric night of food-lovers in Boston.
We tasted as much as we possibly could. The roasted suckling pig was probably the highlight of the night but everything was a notch above just about any charcuterie experience we've ever had. Of course, the wine selections were excellent and the desserts also impressive.
A magnanimous Chef Daniel Boulud was on hand to lavish praise on his entire team, share the food, speak about his local connections and how he jumped at the chance to come to Boston and talk about using local and superior sources to make his new venture a cut above. No doubt that this will be a popular destination for those seeking an authentic bistro experience when searching for that extra touch of sophistication and elegance. Just like Boulud himself, it's already a classic.
