We were invited to an evening of sophisticated sips at The Hawthorne this week, which featured new cocktails featuring Brugal Extra Dry Rum. We were met at the door with this big bowl of ice cold rum punch, strong but nice and a great way to kick off the night.
If you have not been to The Hawthorne I can say that it has a design like no other bar in Boston. There is a long, roomy, bar surrounded by inviting spaces to sit and chat and munch on appetizers.
The overall feeling is that you are really at an elegant, comfortable house party with plenty of space to relax and enjoy a great cocktail.
There were four featured drinks in addition to the punch: El Metro, Daiquiri Rosa, El Presidente and Little White Lie. The last was our favorite and a nice twist on the classic rum and coke. Brugal Extra Dry, Lime, Mexican Coke and Bitters. I've said before that Mexican Coke makes all the difference and I was touting it long before it became so popular.
With Catherine Stanton-Schiff, Brugal Representative and Jackson Cannon, Boston's well-known mixologist. Great night in a quiet, intimate spot I'd encourage you to visit.
