Last week we joined a very fun group of bloggers as the guests of Maggiano's to taste their new Summer Grill Menu. The menu is available through September 12. After a round of sangria for everyone we started out with this Heirloom Tomato and Shrimp Flatbread.
With a nice crust and generous amount of succulent shrimp, it was the perfect way to begin our meal and get the taste buds going. We were all snapping photos, as bloggers do, and chatting about the flavors and what was happening on the local food scene. It was a really great mix of people, many of whom I had not met before.
Our second taste was this Grilled Chicken and Sausage Spiedini. This is a classic summer dish with chicken, sausage, crispy red potatoes, roasted red peppers and an herb vinaigrette. I loved this dish. Everything in it was great and everyone particularly raved about the potatoes.
Grilled Mahi Mahi with Carbonara Orzotto. The Mahi Mahi was topped with a delicious roasted pepper almond pesto and the carbonara orzotto was the hit of the evening. The menu listed peas in this dish, which we couldn't find. That would have made it perfect.
The featured dessert was this Fresh Strawberry Pie: excellent and surprisingly light but full of flavor.
We also tried this Strawberry Cheesecake, which, again, was excellent and the perfect way to end the tasting, with another glass of sangria, of course. The Summer Grill Menu seemed to be a great hit with everyone. It was my first time here but many of the others had been there before, or several times and recommended the restaurant as a great spot for a night out with friends.
