Zephyr On The Charles

We recently joined a a few local bloggers for a small, relaxing Friday night dinner at Zephyr On The Charles at the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge. Each Friday they offer what they call their New England Seafood Market with all-you-can-eat options that include a raw bar of oysters as well as clams, shrimp, mussels, calamari and clam chowder.  In addition, diners order and entrée and dessert.  We all like the pretzel bread served with a spicy honey mustard sauce. The buffet options were all good although I would have loved to see at least one that was deep fried. The Seafood Market cost $43.00 per person, making it a great dining value for all that you get and a great view of the Charles River on a beautiful Spring night did not hurt.

Executive Chef Robert Dougherty stopped by our table for a short chat.

Steamed Mussells with Coconut and Lemon Grass Broth. The broth was fantastic and the mussels were okay but I really do prefer the P.E.I. mussels if I am going to order them.

Old Bay Steamed Gulf Shrimp.

Crab Stuffed Acadian Red Fish with Roasted Yukon Potatoes and Basil Cream Sauce. This was my entrée and quite good. I had never had red fish before. It's similar to haddock but milder in flavor.

1 1/4 Pound Steamed Maine Lobster.

Grilled Alaskan King Crab Legs with Angel Hair Pasta and Garlic Oil.

Other entrée options includea Grilled Rib Eye and Basil Roasted Chicken but this really seemed geared toward the seafood lovers.

Decadent Flourless Cake with Raspberry and Grand Mariner Sauce. This was my dessert. Very nice.

Roasted Pear Tart with Honey Ginger Syrup. I had a small taste of this and liked it the best.

Lemon Tart.
