Destination London 2008

The Bar at Virgin Atlantic's Heathrow Club

Well, if you're like me the strength of the dollar is keeping your seat belt securely fastened to you in your living room chair. I long for another week in London but unless an incredible deal comes along (and believe me I am searching every day) I won't be going anywhere. That, however doesn't mean that I can't update all the readers on what's going on across the pond.

Let's start with the fabulous new Virgin Atlantic Club at Heathrow Airport. How comfortable is this? You can sip a cocktail in the sleek new bar, lounge by the pool or even go for a hair cut or trim compliments of Bumble and Bumble. Care to partake in collagen treatments between flights? NOT a problem! And you don't have to be flying first class either. You can purchase a day pass if you're willing to spend the $150.00 required.

The Virgin Atlantic Poolside Lounge at Heathrow

Since you will be arriving first thing in the morning, most likely, at the top of your list when you hit London is a hearty breakfast. Lucky for us Time Out London has just released their latest list of best breakfasts in the city. Whether you fancy a Japanese breakfast at The Crescent or the Landau, or French toast with bananas and pecans at Flaneur, you will not be disappointed. They also outline London's Best Food markets with special offers for gastropubs and even Sunday Brunch.

Barkeep at London's "Prohibition"

After a glamorous day of noshing, tea, shopping and dining you'll want to check out London's latest trend: Prohibition. Bar Keeps keep and Flappers flap, all dancing to gramophone records spun by a DJ whilst sipping their booze from tea cups.

Barkeep and Flapper

It began as a theme night at a local club but grew so popular it is now sponsored by Hendricks Gin and has taken over its own residence in a grand mansion at 33 Portland Place. Flapper dresses mix with waxed moustaches, smoking jackets and silk scarves. There is roulette and tap dancing, live bands and floor shows. So dig out your spats and extra long cigarette holders and let the fun begin. Check the website for upcoming dates. The cost is £15 if booked online.
