Chefs In Shorts 2011 Part I

Last week we attended what is one of the most popular annual food events in Boston: CHEFS IN SHORTS. A benefit for the Greater Boston Food Bank, it gathers together over 60 Chefs for grilling and cooking. This year the event was completely sold out and despite the cool, misty weather, the food was incredible and the atmosphere was totally fun. In fact, there was SO much to see, taste and talk about that we will be doing several posts on the event. Our very first line of duty was capturing this group photo of all the participating Chefs.

The weather did not deter the glamorous Joanna Roffo of Regan Communications from greeting us the moment we arrived. We LOVE you, Joanna.

Chef Chris Douglass of Ashmont Grill and Nuno Alves of Tavolo. Both of these restaurants offer great food and one of the best values for dining in Boston.

I could have eaten every one of these Strawberry Creamsicles served up by Ashmont Grill. Heaven! Creamy, bursting with flavor and made with all locally-sourced ingredients.

TBF is always happy to see Chef Brian Poe of Poe's Kitchen at the Rattlesnake. Have you tried their patio dining? Great for evening cocktails.

Chef Poe always serves up a colorful plate of mouth-watering bites. Just look at that! His taste included mushrooms and goat cheese.

Chef Jarrod Moiles (l) was leading the team from Bokx 109, including Dan Boccuzzi (r).

This is the best damn slider we have ever seen! Served up by Chef Moiles: Brandt Farm Raised Beef Short Rib Slider with Cipotle, Cilantro, Corn Salsa and Pickled Red Onion. And, yes, Jarrod, local IS good!

Executive Chef Ranveer Brar (far right) was leading several teams representing restaurants in the One World Cuisine group.

One of our favorite dishes was this Pork Vindaloo with Masala Butternut Mash served up by Chef Brar and the team at Mantra.

... more to follow.
