Sams at Louis

There is no question that Sams at Louis offers a spectacular view of the Boston waterfront in the up-and-coming Seaport area, especially at sunset. I invited friends to join me, along with a cadre of other food bloggers, last week at a party celebrating their first anniversary and the patio's opening for the season.

Asia Mei is the new Chef and has been blunt about the great location but the mixed reviews on the menu. I think that is all about to change. Some of the tastes we enjoyed (pictured below) were creative, colorful and inventively delicious with, really, something for everyone. I particularly enjoyed the Lobster BLT. They also serve brunch, which sounded like a great alternative to downtown locations given the panoramic background for dining.

Friends Lingbo Li, Jakub Dolecki, Christian Sann and Mike Merfeld enjoying cocktails on the patio. On the second floor of the structure, the patio offers sweeping views of the Boston Harbor skyline and waterfront.

The signature cocktail we all selected was called the "Less Than Three" and featured tequila, grapefruit juice, cassis, club soda, muddled cucumber and mint, garnished with a strip of salted cucumber. Light and refreshing, the cucumber added an amazing melon-like flavor.

Crispy JalapeƱo Crab Rangoon with sweet and sour plum gastrique.

Quinoa Salad (red and white) with blueberries, orange segments, feta and almonds.

Pulled pork nachos with pickled red cabbage.

Herb encrusted chops.

The mini Lobster BLTs, perhaps our favorite. Lobster salad topped with tomato and candied bacon.

And, of course, there is that beautiful waterfront view next to the ICA (click on the pic to get the full effect).
