New England Food Show 2011 Recap

Our good friend Joe Piantedosi of Piantedosi Baking Company hosted one of the most popular booths at the show. Have you been to their new retail outlet in Winchester? It's their very first, featuring artisan breads as well as deli items

The New England Food Show 2011 was the place to be last weekend. There was literally tons of excellent food to sample and the opportunity to meet with wholesalers, equipment providers, restaurateurs and food enthusiasts of all kinds. There were not only plenty of food and drink samples but also contests, food demos and keynote speakers, photo ops and, new this year, even a game area for video games and ping pong matches to break the ice with new friends. Great idea! Here is a mouth-watering visual review of some of the highlights. Everyone agreed the show was a resounding success.

One of our favorite tastes was this Lemoncello Torte made by Hoff's Bakery, right down the street from TBF's home base.

The highlight of the Show, for me, was Chef José Duarte's (of Taranta, Boston) presentation on 20 ways restaurants can use QR Code technology. The crowd was amazed at all of the creative possibilities he presented. Later that evening, Duarte accepted the 2011 Chef Of The Year Award from the Massachusetts Restaurant Association.

Chefs Alex Zwicker Galimberti and José Duarte not only did a food demo but also showed the overflow audience amazing new ways to use QR Code technology. Cutting edge stuff.

Congratulations to the Massachusetts Restaurant Association on a well-organized, successful event and a special shout out to Heather Carneiro and Lon Breedlove who kept everything running smoothly. Congratulations!
