Amelia's Trattoria
It's a small space, tucked into a quiet corner in Kendall Square and a favored spot for the Technocracy who want a quiet, well-done lunch and perhaps a cocktail.
It's also somewhat of an authentic Trattoria, the kind of roadside spot one might find driving from Milan to Venice.
I sat at the bar, which dominates thee room, surrounded by maybe ten or so small tables, all classically outfitted in rustic yet refined Italian style.
An ice cold fizzy lemonade was a great relief on a steaming hot day.
Fresh bread and olive oil. It wouldn't be a Trattoria without it.
I went with the spinach, chicken and provolone panini. Everything was absolutely fresh and cooked to perfection. Many Americans think of panini as being grilled and pressed but in Italy it is really just a sandwich. And a very good sandwich it is. I'd recommend you talk a walk down the side street to Amelia's next time you are in Kendall Square and avoid all those chain restaurants.
