TV and Food

Television is fun. I guess it may not be if you have to work in it every day but it was fun on Friday morning and, for the most part, it hardly seems like work. Fox TV's Morning News Show was doing a remote broadcast and I was invited so I was up with the birds. I love it when they do location shows because the focus of the show always turns completely to food and Friday was no different.

The location was Winchester, the next town over, and the weather was absolutely gorgeous. I don't know what I was expecting, really, except to talk about all things food but the morning did hold one gigantic surprise when the owner of a local restaurant brought out these enormous trays of food. Then, as he was being interviewed by Kim Carrigan he pulled back the layer of pastry covering one of the trays to reveal a roast suckling pig en croute!!! The entire audience of at least one hundred people gasped in unison. I am sure that, like me, they all thought it was just a very big calzone. I had never tasting roast pig before so I was dying to dig into it. Absolutely delicious is the only way I can describe the succulent, tender pork.

After that it was tray after tray of great food. There was lots of Italian food like the aforementioned calzone, some fantastic chicken and eggplant parmigiana, broccoli and ziti and on and on - enough to feed an army. Then, the entire audience was invited to dig in which they did, feasting on everything and all before nine o'clock in the morning.

Food: it's the one subject that everyone loves.
