Well it's a New Year and the invitations are pouring in for all sorts of foodie events throughout the area. No sooner than I had written the post on cooking classes (January 4)lamenting the fact that Jasper White and Todd English are not participating in this year's Celebrity Chef Series at The Copley Fairmont do I get an invite to attend an event at the Mohegan Sun featuring, of all people.........you guessed it, Jasper White and Todd English! Even our old standby Mary Ann Esposito will be there. It's all part of the 2008 Wine Fest gala celebration at Mohegan Sun, attended by over 12,000 visitors last year.
Event: Celebrity Chef Dine Around - a fundraiser to benefit Share Our Strength, for which guests will have the opportunity to meet world-famous chefs, television celebrities, cookbook authors, and restaurateurs while sampling some of their signature dishes.

If the cost of that is not in your charitable budget and you want to stay a bit closer to home, our next event is for you: The Third Annual Azure Blue Party Sponsored by The Improper Bostonian to benefit Community Servings. I love the cool design of Azure and The Lenox Hotel has been one of my favorite spots since my days attending those glamorous Ad Council events in their gilt trimmed Dome Room. The Improper sponsorship means, of course, that you should dress to impress as the photogs will be snapping left and right.
Event: Boston hot spot Azure is opening its doors to Community Servings with an evening dedicated to the blues. Guests will be served blues-inspired hors d’oeuvres created by Azure’s nationally recognized Executive Chef Robert Fathman and specialty drinks made with Reyka Vodka. The party will feature blues by Stretch and a raffle for several prizes, including a grand prize chef’s tasting dinner for six at Azure. Guests are encouraged to wear blue!

Cost: Tickets are $50 per person which includes wine, beer, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and live entertainment. Thanks to the generosity of Azure and its liquor sponsors, 100 percent of the ticket and raffle sales will benefit the meals program. The funds raised from the sale of each ticket will provide two weeks worth of meals for a Community Servings client.
