Taste Of The South End 2012

After wandering about for a bit, we decided to make this our first taste. From Myers + Chang: Korean BBQ Bulgogi Sliders with Kimchee Cucumbers. Amazing!

We've been so busy with events recently that we almost forgot to post our photos from Taste Of The South End 2012! Always popular, this the event was completely sold out. And why not? You can taste samples from the best of the best South End restaurants in one place on one night. It's like a restaurant crawl with forty stops. Needless to say, the food was great, the crowd was fun and we all helped raise thousands of dollars for the Aids Action Committee.

Joanne Chang was there with her crew from Flour. Still going strong, Chef Joanne now has three locations and just finished up her second cookbook.

Team Flour served up these always welcome Chocolate Cream Puffs.

We were really happy to see our friend Yobani (l) there from Mistral. Yobani is yet another Future Chefs success story. Great job! He's holding a plate of Parfait Of Foie Gras, served on a Baguette with Grape and Port Wine. To die for!

These jewels of Steak Tartare with Capers, Shallots, Parsley and Aioli were prepared by Gaslight Brasserie Du Coin.

Chef Gordon Hamersley of Hamersley's Bistro is a longtime, loyal supporter of this event and always provides one of the most popular bites of the night.

Chef Gordon served up a delicious Spicy Shrimp and Israeli Cous Cous bite. Another favorite. We went back for seconds but they were all out.

The team from Picco was serving up these really fun Framboise Ice Cream Floats.

After I tasted this I wondered why I had never thought of using real beer in an ice cream float? This was, seriously, one of my favorite tastes of the night. They were also serving them with chocolate ice cream.

Aquitane provided guests with this Chocolate Hazelnut Tart with Hazelnut Brittle. It was not only deliciously rich but also a great presentation. Beautiful.

Stephi's On Tremont served a very good Native Oyster and Corn Chowder with Aged Parmesan Crispy Polenta. A perfect rendition of the kind of comfort food found at both Stephi's locations.

Dean taste-testing the fare from Stephi's.
